Rod de Highden
Life Membership awarded in 2008.
Rod started with the club in about 1982 after transferring from Kew-Camberwell Athletic Club.
Rod was part of a powerful and successful Junior tack and cross country team which continued its success right through their teenage years
winning numerous premierships.
Rod was part of the very first A grade Cross Country premiership in 1993. Throughout his career he has continued to accumulate awards having
won the Athlete of the Year award with Doncaster on four occasions, he also won the Victorian Cross Country Athlete of the Year more than once.
Rod is a two time National Marathon Champion in 1995 and 2000 and a National Cross Country Champion.
Rod represented his country at both Track and Cross Country having been to six World Cross Country (best 45th in 1993), 3 World Championships
(best 36th in 2001) and has the honour of being a dual Olympian (best 23rd in 1996) putting himself in an exclusive club.
25 years with Doncaster Athletic Club, he continues to be involved competing regularly as an athlete having surpassed many distance runners that
have come and gone, he is the steady rock that remains what the club is all about.
As an athlete, Rod has always been there when required to compete and as an example of juniors and other athletes alike.
