Brimbank Park Cross Country - Saturday 31 July

Budoora raised over $2,000 for the club . . . . thanks again to everyone who assisted and made this such a successful day

 Hannah is 5 months old

Not sure where the time has gone!

This week she rolled a number of times from her back to her front and is scooting across the room on her back, pushing with her legs! Here are some latest pics of Hannah:

Bundoora Park - Saturday 17 July

Thank you to everyone who assisted on Saturday either in the canteen, on the BBQ, on course or preparing for the day.  It was a very big day for the club and we survived.

Thanks Patrick for some photos from the men's open and women's U20 races and Jenny for the BBQ shots.  See all photos in the photo gallery.

 David Baxter 1977 - 2010

The Doncaster Athletic Club has lost one of its greatest athletes and finest people. David Baxter lost his brave fight with cancer on July 2nd. DAC wishes to pass on its deepest sympathies to David’s mum Gillian Baxter, and his wife Judith.

The term champion is often overused when talking of sportspeople, but with David this was the perfect description. He represented Australia at the 1996 World Junior Championships, 1997 and 2001 University Games, 1998 World Cup, 1999 World Championships, 1999 World Indoors and the 2002 Commonwealth Games where he won a Bronze medal in the 4 x 100m relay team. He was also the 1995 and 1996 National Junior Champion over 100m. He is the current club record holder for the 100m (10.3 secs) and 200m (20.57 secs).

But there was far more to David than a truly elite athlete. He was a wonderful role model who was immensely generous with his advice and encouragement of others, as well as his commitment to the Club off the track. David was a much loved friend to so many at DAC and across the sport of track and field.

Many coaches have said David was one of the most gifted athletes they had ever seen, leaving no stone unturned in endeavouring to reach the pinnacle of the sport. David represented the Doncaster Athletic Club, Victoria and Australia with excellence, pride and honour.

Rest in Peace David. You were an outstanding athlete and an outstanding person who will be sadly missed by all.

Katherine K striving for New Delhi

As winter training and racing continues for some and others are having a well earned break, keep DAC athlete Katherine Katsenavakis in mind as she is pursuing a qualifying time to be included in the National Team for the Commonwealth Games.

Last weekend Kath was on the Gold Coast competing and plans to go back in a couple of weeks.  While there Kath ran a PB of 2:02.89, a 'B' qualifier for the Games.  Now we have to wait while AA makes it's final selections.

Previously Kath travelled to Korea where she ran 2:03.??.

Please keep Kath in mind as she pursues her dream and offer any encouragement you can when you see her around.
