National Cross Country Trials The Australian cross country trials to select a team to attend the world championships in Poland in March were held over the weekend at Victoria's Brimbank Park. Doncaster was represented in the Open Women's 8km race by Fiona Nash while Grace Thek lined up in the women's Under 20 6km event. Grace finished 2nd in her race and has now been selected to represented Australia at the world championships. This will be Grace's first full National representation. Fiona Nash looked extremely good passing through 4km in a lead group that included former world champion Benita Willis, Zatopek winner Elouise Wellings and several national representatives. Shortly afterwards however Fiona stepped in a hole rolling her ankle and was then forced to withdraw from the race. Congratulations to Grace who becomes the 3rd Doncaster athlete coached by Patrick Ashkettle to make an Australian world championship team in as many years.
