Doncaster Newsletter
Round 7 – 15/01/2022
It was a resurgent Doncaster starting off the new year on a high, with our best result for the year.
The Under 14 Men’s team returned to the top of the table and the Under 16 Women came third, their best results yet. We can now feel confident about not having to fight to hold our position in Premier Division in the Playoffs.
Declan Carman was also in action at the AV Throwers competition at Nunawading on Sunday, winning the Discus with a throw of 54.29m.
Don’t forget next round is our Powerplay round at Duncan MacKinnon and Aberfeldie where our ladder score will be doubled. We’d like to encourage our members to enter extra events to increase our score, it doesn’t matter if you throw a Javelin 10m off a short run up or jog a 30 second 200m, every point will make a difference. Entries close midday on Wednesday, so make sure you get in quickly!
Victorian Multi Event Championships records
Doncaster had two athletes contest the state multi event championships on January 8-9.
Kate Downward won bronze in the 40+ Women’s Heptathlon with a score of 2,388 points while Eliza Chivers finished 7th in the Under 16 Women’s Heptathlon, scoring 3,483 points. Both Kate and Eliza have set new club records with their performances (Eliza claiming both the Under 15 and Under 16 records), an outstanding achievement!

Relay Championships entry requirements
AV have recently announced that for the Victorian Relay Championships on Wednesday 26th of January, anyone over the age of 18 (regardless of whether you are an athlete, official, coach, spectator, parent/guardian/sibling etc) will be required to be double vaccinated and show proof of vaccination status in order to enter Lakeside Stadium.
This is due to the championships being held in conjunction with the Zatopek competition, which is classified as a high performance event, making double vaccination mandatory in order to enter the venue.
This is in line with state and federal government guidelines which AV are obligated to follow and is beyond the control of DAC.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our registrar David Mitchell (registrar@doncasterac.org.au)
Track update
This week we reached a significant milestone in the track redevelopment works with the installation of the new light towers as part of the lighting upgrade. The base layer of the track surface has been installed with other ground works still taking place. All going to plan, we remain on target for the track to reopen in early April.
Unfortunately, we have noticed some members of the public with no connection to DAC or any AV clubs, ignoring the works, illegally gaining access to the facility and trespassing on the incomplete track worksite despite the fact it remains closed.
If you see anyone trespassing on the track area (including the throws cage area) who is not a council or construction worker, please ring Doncaster police.
Athletes to finish top 10 in the state over all age groups in Premier division were:
100m: Anthony Jordan (1st), Alessia Wynne (5th)
