Round 4 – 12/11/2022 

Older Doncaster Athletes are definitely pulling their weight, coming fourth and fifth in the state! A number of records were broken, with Deb Garden, Campbell McLennan and David Firth breaking their own records. Campbell also broke Mark Purser’s record in the 200 metres and David Vaughan broke Will McCombie’s in the 800. The women broke the 4 x 100 relay record as well. 

A special mention to Lydia Rinaudo who ran an Open Age National qualifying time in the 3000m Steeple.

Pan Pacs on the Gold Coast 

Last week Wendy Smith and Paul Mierisch went up to the Gold Coast to compete in the Pan Pacs: 

Wendy’s results were : 60 metres 9.57 (Bronze and Club Record), 100 metres 16.25, 200 metres 34.93, 400 metres 79.75 (Bronze).

Paul’s result was : 400 metres 55.12 (Silver).

Congratulations to Wendy & Paul!

Round 5 of AVSL is this Saturday the 19th at Casey Fields and Epping. Information including draft timetables and current entry lists can be found on the AVSL Round page

High Velocity & AV Throwers – November 22 and December 6  

We are excited to announce that AV are running High Velocity and AV Throwers meets combined at Tom Kelly Athletics Track on the following dates :  

Tuesday 22 November          – Sprint Hurdles, 200m, 400m, Triple Jump & 2x100m Relays + Shot Put & Discus  

Tuesday 6 December             – Long Hurdles, 100m, 200m & Long Jump + Hammer & Javelin  

From around 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm  

Entries via AV  

As these dates are during our club training times, athletes and coaches are asked to make alternative arrangements for training on these dates. Alternatively, please contact us at DAC@doncasterac.org.au if you need access to another track on either of those nights and we will try to arrange with another club if we can.  

We will need some volunteers to assist with set up, moving hurdles and pack up.

Please email Facilities@doncasterac.org.au if you can assist with any of these tasks on either night.

Victorian Relay Championships – Saturday November 26 

As we have mentioned in previous newsletters, the Victorian Relay Championships are returning to their traditional late November slot.

When: Saturday 26th of November 

Where: Box Hill Athletics Track

For those competing in relays on Saturday 26th November – don’t forget to vote.

Uniforms

A big shout out to Sean Peters, David Rowlands, Andy Parrott, David Firth, David Vaughan, Renee Reardon, Declan Brown-Porteous, Eliza Chivers, Mary Tolcos, Emma Peak, Kim Peak, Laura McLennan and Alana Mierisch who helped this week with setup and pack up of the track and equipment, moving hurdles and changing their heights, lap scoring for our steeplechasers and assisting with our duty on Hammer Throw and Pole Vault. We are always grateful for the assistance provided and appreciate it when people step up to assist when there is a task to do.
