Doncaster 40+ Newsletter
Opening day of the new Shield format saw Doncaster Head Diamond Valley for much of the day before they made a late surge. However, the big surprise was Collingwood, who haven’t been fielding a 40+ team for some years, and had recruited a family of Dells from Richmond. They ended up being top in the State with Diamond Valley and Doncaster eighth and ninth. And we still have a number of members missing. The women’s team was also below strength, but still managed third.
There were a number of new records set, particularly Kath Gawthorn and Laura McLennan in the W45 and Will McCombie in the M60, while Graham Ford broke his M70 discus record.
It was a welcome back to Will McCombie, into a new age group and running well.
The women’s team is looking for some more members to help Laura and Kath.
