While many of us were enjoying a relaxing the long weekend, many Doncaster athletes were busy fine tuning for the upcoming month of athletics. On a cool Thursday 23rd a dozen of our middle distance runners competed in the Milers Club meet at Box Hill, a special mention to Will Katic and Peter Holland making their DAC debut in the 800m with Peter running a national qualifying time in his first race in DAC colours!
Nine athletes made the trip down to Geelong to compete in the Victorian Country Championships and four members won gold medals; Steph Larkin in the Open 400m Hurdles, Paul Mierisch in the 40+ 400m, Owen Rice in the Under 18 Hammer Throw and Tahlia Grace in the Under 14 Pole Vault.
In our nation’s capital, Conrad Coumaros, Tristan Robinson, Liam Procaccino, Danny Minz and Nicole Reynolds joined a flood of Victorians competing at the ACT State Championships. And in the VAL, Danielle McDowell won the Wangaratta Gift 400m and Alex Jones won the Under 18 800m in the Maribyrnong Gift.
AVSL resumes this Saturday 1st of February at Doncaster where we will be hosting the AVSL final program. Pre-entries close midday Wednesday 29th but on the day entries are also available. With a large turnout this weekend we will be able to stitch up second place on the AVSL ladder, meaning we will qualify for the Premiership playoff with Nunawading and be promoted to Premier Division for Season 2020/2021! Please come to your home track to support your club!
Trivia Night: Friday 14th of February + Call for donations
Three weeks to go until the DAC trivia night on Friday 14th of February at the Scout Hall!
We are still calling for any donations possible from members, family and friends. A reminder that all donations can be left at the gym on Monday, Wednesday or Friday nights from 5-7:30pm. Donations/prizes can also be brought on the night.

If you haven’t organised a table of 10-12 people max that’s ok, please let us know you are coming and we can arrange a table on the night!
Purchasing a ticket prior to the night will help indicate the approximate numbers to assist the committee with organising tables.

AVSL Final: Saturday 22nd of February
Should we qualify for the AVSL final, all members who have competed in four rounds of AVSL and in any of the AVSL Final events (200m, 800m, 3000m, 1500m/3000m Walk, 400m/300m/200m Hurdles, 4x100m, Hammer Throw, Shot Put, Triple Jump and High Jump) will be selected to compete for the club on Saturday February 22nd.
