2019-01-19 Shield Round 10 40+

Doncaster Newsletter 40+

Returning to our home track this week the team made their highest score for the season, with a great turnout. Particular welcome to new high jumpers, Nicholas Burkitt and Michael Scales. Nicholas equalled Paul Mierisch’s club record and though not in the finals program this year, it will make us much more competitive next year.

Also welcome back to Jim Poulter. A stalwart of the club for many years, he is still competitive in the pole vault and with Darryl and Warren also competing in that event, we have it covered.

Teams at the moment look like:

100 metres: Paul Mierisch, David Firth, Warren Hattwich, Graham Ford (Darryl Kilmartin)

400 metres: David Firth, Campbell McLennan, Paul Mierisch, Warren Hattwich (Darryl Kilmartin)

1500 metres: Campbell McLennan, Darryl Kilmartin

3000 steeple: John Curry

100 metres hurdles: Graham Ford

Walk: Campbell McLennan

Pole Vault: Jim Poulter, Darryl Kilmartin (Warren Hattwich)

Long Jump: Paul Mierisch, Graham Ford (Warren Hattwich)

Discus Throw: Graham Ford, Paul Mierisch (Peter Coumaros)

Javelin Throw: David Firth, Warren Hattwich (Peter Coumaros)

Relay: Paul Mierisch, David Firth, Warren Hattwich, Darryl Kilmartin (Graham Ford)

Things are really looking up, but we urgently need a couple more 1500 metres runners. Hopefully some of our cross-country crew can be enticed.
