2019-02-02 Shield Round 11

Doncaster Newsletter

The eleventh round of Shield saw Doncaster having to travel to Knox and Werribee, so numbers were down. Congratulations to Charmaine Smith who competed in four events and was the only member of the Women’s Open team. The Men’s Under 16 were below strength and, with a big win, Diamond Valley have now moved to just one point behind them. Collingwood are now four points behind the Women’s Under 18 team and our Under 14 Men, Open Men and 40+ Men’s teams have maintained their first and second positions respectively.

Congratulations to Kai Sapolu on breaking the club record in the Under 14 200 metres hurdles for the third time in four weeks.

Pre-entries are open for the final round of Shield next Saturday the 9th at Epping and Nunawading, we would love to see as many athletes from our Shield Final teams (Open Men, Open Women, 40+ Men, Under 20 Women, Under 18 Women, Under 16 Men and Under 14 Men) compete at Epping as the Final program will be contested there making it the last chance for members to qualify for final specific events. We are also on Javelin duty throughout the day at Epping and are already short of helpers so any extra assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately both the Under 14 Women and Under 18 Men’s teams have just missed out on qualifying for Shield Final, however we would still love to see as many members from those teams compete for one last time this season before the upcoming month of Championships.
