AVSL Round 2 – 06/12/2020
The second round of AVSL saw a resurgent Diamond Valley return to the top of the men’s table in red zone, though they were also beaten by the mighty Essendon. The women had another big win, with both teams finishing fifth in the state.
Decathlete Warren Hattwich is back this year and top scored with 1017 ahead of Graham Ford on 985. Athletes to finish in the top 10 in the state for over 40 were:
Shot put Peter Coumaros 6th
Special mention to Paul Mireisch who was 11th in the 100.
With no club records broken in the first week, there was a swath of them this week. Laura McLennan took ten seconds off her 400 metres record. Graham Ford took over a second off his 100 metres record, but it was disallowed due to the wind. Allison Parrott also missed a 100 metres record due to the wind. She also set new records for the 400 and shot put. Mark Purser and Graham Ford broke 400 metres records.
We’re still at Doncaster for round 3 next week with the 200, walk, long jump and discus throw. Hope to see you all there.
