Doncaster Newsletter

16/02/2021

Despite AVSL being postponed, DAC athletes were still competing in the week leading up to Friday with some impressive results.

On Tuesday the 9th the Victorian Milers Club held their fourth competition of the season at Box Hill, incorporating the Victorian Mile Championship. The 800’s saw some impressive performances from Rachel White, Chow Lui, Liam McLennan, Aiden Marasco and Will Katic. And in the mile, Luke Sinn earned bragging rights over his brother Caleb by half a second, Abbey Caldwell was right in the mix to win her first Mile championship but ended up finishing fourth and Alastair Christy was in the lead pack for much of the Men’s championship race, ending up in eleventh place.

Amazingly, Alastair competed in the A race of the Victorian 5000m Championships two days later, finishing twelfth in 14:14.29 while Cross Country specialist Dave Ridley came eighteenth in 15:07.85. John Portwood returned to competition in the B race, finishing eighteenth in 15:57.11. And in the D race, Anthony Paige won in a PB of 17:09.45 despite running three quarters of the race on his own, while training partner David Mitchell ran a PB of 17:33.41 to finish fourth.
