XCR Round 4 – Cruden Farm – 10th July

It was back to Cruden Farm for the latest in the XRC series and Doncaster had an enthusiastic group of 40+ athletes attending. It didn’t look too promising, starting the races in fog, and that didn’t dissipate as expected. However, there was no wind and it was almost perfect conditions for a cross-country run. A change to the course through a fern forest, to avoid a nasty creek crossing, ended up being the highlight of many.

Campbell McLennan (M45), Kate Downward (W40) and Colleen Kelly (W60) all finished in the top ten while James Finch, Kate and Colleen all set new records for the distance.

It was also a welcome back to Olympian Natalie Harvey after twelve years in the UK. She ran in the invitation race, but hopefully will be back in Doncaster colours soon.

Masters Inver-Venue Challenge

Doncaster Masters are hosting an Inter-Venue Track Challenge between the various Masters’ venues around Melbourne on Sunday August 22. Athletes over 30 who are not members of the Victorian Masters can compete by invitation. The events planned are 60 metres, 150 metres, 300 metres, 600 metres, 1 mile and 3000 metres, plus a couple of walks. Opportunities to run the mile are uncommon, so this would be a chance to run one. Cost is $5 for one event and $10 for two or three. Bookings can be made at https://www.trybooking.com/BRZET. See attached.
