Young gun Zachary Nunis had a stellar 2014/15 season, have a read to find out a little more about him.

-Your coach and why you’ve picked them:
Matthew Oakley – I started training with Matt around 2 years ago after my friend from school Kyle Nicolussi asked me to come to one of his training sessions. He’s a really good coach with a sprints background which has gotten me faster on the runway and stronger during the phases of the Triple Jump. He knows what to say to get me fired up at a comp and/or at training and is very good at analysing technique.

-Idol athlete:
Christian Taylor (Triple Jump Olympic Champion) he comes from the U.S. currently living and training in the UK, his personal best is 18.06m which is currently the second longest jump this year. He’s a follower of Jesus and I really look up to him as an athlete and as a person.

-Mars or Snickers:
I’m not a massive fan of chocolate but if I had to choose it would be snickers.

-Why you enjoy putting the DAC singlet on each week:
I enjoy putting on the DAC singlet every week because I’ve been competing for Doncaster since I was 5 starting at Little Athletics. The club has a really good community of athletes and coaches and the colours are Green and Gold, it’s like I’m competing for Australia.

-School:
Aquinas College, Ringwood.

-Pet hate:
My pet hate would have to be burning my toast. There isn’t much worse than waiting for a few minutes to have a beautiful piece of Raisin Toast, and it coming out black and stiff. You can’t butter it properly, it doesn’t melt into the bread, and you get crumbs everywhere. It sucks so much.

-Competitions you’ll target in 2015/16:
I’m aiming to compete at the Australian All Schools Championships in December 2015 and the Australian Junior Champs in March 2016.

-Favourite song:
Great Balls of Fire – Jerry Lee Lewis.

-Post schooling aspiration:
I would love to further my education after high school at University studying Sport Science and continue with my Athletics. My ultimate goal is to represent Australia in Track and Field.

-2015/16 season goal:
My goals for this season are, jumping a World Junior qualification in Triple Jump, achieve a medal at a National competition and try to improve in Long Jump and 110m Hurdles and maybe qualify for nationals in those events.

Thanks Zach, good luck for your training and upcoming competitions!
