Dear Members,

Please give us a few moments to read the following important updates.

  • LOCKDOWN
  • NEW COMMITTEE MEMBER
  • MEMBERSHIP RENEWALS
  • 50TH CELEBRATION
  • VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

With the Victorian State Government enforcing a State wide lockdown, and further advice from the Manningham City Council, the DAC Committee regret to inform all members of a suspension of Club operations and official club training for the duration of the lockdown.

The track will remain open to individuals but we encourage all members to comply with the current restrictions.  No buildings or equipment are able to be accessed.

It is hoped that this lockdown will be brief and we hope to see you back at training shortly.

The Club Committee elected at our recent AGM left us with 4 casual vacancies.  We are excited to announce that at our meeting last Wednesday, the Committee co-opted Nathan Carr to join us.  Nathan is not only a former member of DAC, but brings great insight to our Committee due to his time spent working in the US in collegiate athletic management.  Welcome Nathan.

A recent check of our records has found many former and Non/members are training at the track without a valid membership.

From the resumption of training after lockdown, we will be strictly enforcing this membership requirement to access the track during DAC exclusive training times.

Athletes who have not completed at least a training membership will be refused entry to the track until they have completed the membership form and paid the appropriate fee.

It is disappointing that we have to take this step.  However, it is a necessary requirement of our COVID safe document and insurance requirements.

Please find attached below, a training membership form or if you intend to compete this year access your athlete membership through the AV Portal.

Training membership forms are to be submitted directly to our registrar David Mitchell (registrar@doncasterac.org.au) with confirmation of fee payment prior to resuming training.

Preparations for a Gala night to celebrate our Club’s 50th Anniversary are well under way.  We expect to be able to make some firm announcements soon, but tentatively are planning for November.  Stay tuned.  Kate Downward is working to update our Club history. If you believe you have something to contribute, please reach out.

There is a lot involved in running one of the largest and most successful clubs in the State. If you feel you could pitch in to help, workers are always needed.  We have a number of areas members could contribute to including Club helper rostering, Uniform sales, Junior athlete integration, and we always need more people to take up the role of an official.  Many other opportunities exist so give us a call and we can discuss it with you.

We are buoyant about the future of our Club and appreciate the great support of all our members.

Stay safe, Stay fit,

DAC Committee
